meet nikki lane

With her eclectic style and signature red lips, South Carolina native Nikki Lane is hard to miss. But it’s really her unapologetic blend of outlaw country, Americana, blues and rock that has captured listeners’ attention and made them hungry for more. Her voice isn’t sweet as silk and smooth as honey — it’s gritty and fiery and uninhibited … much like her persona.

Lane, referred to as “The First Lady of Outlaw Country,” is a high-school dropout, fashion and vintage lover, store owner and ridiculously talented singer-songwriter. She’s also relatively new to the latter scene: Fans may be surprised to know that Lane didn’t write her first song until she was 25 years old; in some ways, she sees herself as a late bloomer.

Despite this, Lane has made incredible progress since her 2017 album “Highway Queen.” Having caught the attention of superstar Lana Del Rey, Lane co-wrote and provided backing vocals on the track “Breaking Up Slowly” for Rey’s 2021 album Chemtrails over the Country Club. Feeling inspired by the collaboration, Lane changed up her approach on her new album Denim and Diamonds.

Her fourth full-length project, Denim and Diamonds boasts a stronger rock influence than her previous work. The backbeat feels like a gutsy strut while the lead guitar feels like a revved up engine shifting gears. Denim & Diamonds comes out firing, spit shining the cowboy boots and tossing on a jean jacket.
