Charlie Mars: A Journey That Started With a Radio

Charlie Mars’ musical journey began in the heart of Mississippi, on a gravel-paved County Road in the serene hill country of Yalobusha County, where the waves of WNSL and the soulful tunes of Neil Young and Jackson Browne on the radio shaped his early love for music. Starting a band in high school, Mars began to blend a repertoire of covers of their songs along with his own compositions, performing them at local spots such as VFW.

Studying English at SMU in Dallas, Mars embraced the art of wordsmithing and was inspired by Daniel Lanois’ atmospheric sounds, which led him to explore diverse musical styles and incorporate them into his music. From classic and country influences to Jam Bands and Alt-Country, Mars sound defies genre boundaries with each song.

With seven studio albums, EPs, and singles spanning two decades, Charlie Mars has made his mark in the music industry. He’s shared stages with REM, KT Tunstall, and Steve Earle. He has also been featured in a variety of magazines such as Forbes and USA Today. After many years, the dream of touring in a big bus sharing his passion for music with large crowds continues to be the force that drives him forward.

His music is a testament to perseverance and creative exploration, inviting listeners to join him on an unforgettable journey through sound and emotion.
